Spring is on my mind.

Collage and ink on paper.

Setting...

We had a fun & casual dinner party at home this past weekend with some friends.
I served a mexican corn & poblano chile soup, you can find the recipe here. With what some people call "mexcan pizza" or "molletes" as we call them here in Mexico. It consists of bread (I made my own organic whole wheat organic bread) slathered with refried beans, topped with cheese then broiled in the oven till the cheese is melted and golden. The molletes are served with "pico de gallo": chopped tomato, serrano chile, onion and cilantro... yum :)

My beloved journal

My latest journal page.
I made my beloved journal a cotton canvas slipcover today
with a pocket embelished with some little flower pots.
The new Martha Stewart Living magazine
has a gorgeous article on silk ribbon embroidery.
It got me super inspired & I thought I'd give it a try.

Illustration Friday: COMMUNICATION part 2

Little boys and girls just remember to keep
the twine tense and straight or else it won't work :o)
Chalk on blackboard.
***I just realised I put both of the kids with the cup in their ears, heehee
...so they won't hear a thing, I should've of put one of them with the cup close to their mouth
...oh well, c'est la vie.

iKnit

I thought I'd share my other hobby with you: I love to knit.
This indigo colored scarf is my latest finished project.
I made this little soft box/tray out of the same wool fabric
I made my love + birds pillows with and lined it with felt
to keep some of my many WIPs I need to work on. I machine stiched the box
with orange thread for some nice contrast and pattern.

Journal pages

I went stamp crazy and prepared the pages for next week's entries...
I usually do some collage before hand and then add to it during the week.

I'll post these pages in two weeks
so you can check out how they turned out.
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments.
Have a beautiful day & stay warm.

Initials

When I was a little girl my dad had this beautiful metal sculpture of his initials on his desk. I remember I was always fascinated by it because they were in fact my own initials too. I've always admired everything my dad makes and designs, he is truly talented. That beautiful GZ my dad designed now sits on my own desk where I can enjoy it every single day and think of him. I recently made it into a rubber stamp so I can put it on my watercolors. To this day, I'm proud and happy to share my dad's initials, to be able to use them in my work is just like a cherry on top!
